IMATS

IMATS or the International Makeup Artist Trade Show was held on June 20 and 21.
I attended on June 21.

This was my first time going. I had never been to anything like that before.
It was AMAZING! I had so much fun.

My husband and my son were also with me. Children can go. My son was such a good boy the whole time. They both had a lot of fun as well.

So the IMATS is a huge makeup show with LOTS of makeup brands all in one giant room selling all their products. Everything is discounted between 20 and 40%!

There is a makeup competition and classes you can attend as well while you are there.
If you want to attend the classes tickets cost a little more. If you want to just go into the area where the vendors are then they are cheaper.

I got my tickets to go into the classes as well.

Some of the makeup brands that were there were
Makeup Forever
Senna Cosmetics
Yaby
Temptu
Silly Farm Supplies
Mark V Tweezers
Mehron
Kryolan
L.A. Splash Cosmetics
MAC
Face Atelier
Bobbi Brown
Naked Cosmetics
Cinema Secrets
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics
Stila

This isn't even near half of what was there. There were so many different vendors. Lots of makeup brush vendors, and airbrush, and glitters, and tools, luggage/train cases, hair tools, makeup schools, and skin care. Oh yeah even a vendor for boob jobs, haha!

I'm back!

Well what a week it's been!

First Ed, then Farrah, and then Michael, now Billy Mays so SAD!
:-(

My in-laws also came up to visit this week.

Also my sons pre-school graduation was on Friday, BUT we couldn't take him for his graduation. :-(

So Thursday evening my son got sick. He was vomiting A LOT. I called our Doctors office and they said they would have the Dr. call me. He calls and says give him Pedialite but if he continues you have to take him in. So of course he continues to get sick so we had to take him in to the E.R.

I'm sure you know how that goes.
Waiting a long time. Finally being called back and waiting even longer.
The Dr. checked him out and said it was a bug, stomach flu. He gave him something for nausea and that was about it. He said he would be fine.

We didn't get home till 4am. My sons graduation was at 12pm. So he was still weak and not feeling to great later on so that is why he could not go to his pre-school graduation.

My mom and brother came over that day and brought my son a bunch of toys to cheer him up.

Later that night (Friday night) my mother in-law gets it, then my husband. Saturday night I get it, as does my mom, then Sunday my brother gets it.

So I had a pretty crazy week. I'm glad my son is better though. We are all better too. It was only a 24 hour bug, thank god!

My in-laws left today. So now I'll have time to post everything.

I already uploaded all the pics so I'll be posting those tomorrow sometime.

Oh and I just wanted to thank TalluluhBella for my prize. I got it today! I LOVE the Barry M lipstick!!! It's beautiful!

IMATS pictures coming up tomorrow!

Moisturizer, Primer, Foundation

Photobucket

I was checking out Estee Lauder foundations. I decided to try out Double Matte Oil control makeup SPF 15 because I have really oily skin.

I was talking with the lady at the counter and she was asking me about my skin and what my problems were with the makeup I had been using.

I told her that I have oily skin, and that because I get oily my makeup doesn't last as long as I would like it to.

She suggested with the foundation that I should use DayWear Plus moisturizer and Idealist Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher, so she gave me samples of those.

Now I have used a lot of other primers like Smashbox, Laura Geller, Bare Escentuals, Philosophy, MAC, the monistat stuff and they were all just ok for me, nothing GREAT.

She told me to use the Idealist after my moisturizer as a primer.

I just thought it would be just like everything else I've tried but I was VERY suprised at how well this worked out for me. I went back and bought full sizes of the DayWear Plus and Idealist.

I have been using all three together since then and I LOVE them!

In the past I have always had to touch up about two hours after I've done my makeup and I hate that.

Since I have been using these three products I find that I don't really have to touch up at all.

The moisturizer is really nice. I love the way it smells!

The Idealist is great. I like the packaging. It's a bit pricy, but I think it's worth it.
Photobucket

As for the Idealist I don't really see my pores minimized. I read online that it says to use it BEFORE moisturizer, but I'm using it as a primer like the lady suggested. I havn't tried using it before, so I don't know if it would minimize pores like it says, but I'm happy with it as a primer.

Photobucket

Now the foundation I really like it as well, but my only minor problem with it is that it doesn't have a pump, so I just bought a MAC pump for it and it fit.

Overall these are working out great for me. :-)

Products can be found at http://www.esteelauder.com/
DayWear Plus ~ $38.50
Idealist ~ $46.50, 1oz
Double Matte ~ $33.50

I just had to post this because she looks BEAUTIFUL!
How great does she look?!?!
Her makeup is perfect!
Love it!

Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream

I have thick wavy/curly hair. I always straighten it. I put this on my hair when it's damp. Then I let it air dry, then straighten it.

I only use about a pea size, it's really all you need. Any more and it will make your hair look greasy. It leaves my hair soft and shiny. I also LOVE the way it smells!

I'll most likely buy this again, probably not for awhile though because this is going to last a long time because you use so little.

You can find this 1.6oz at Sephora for $9.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple

Photobucket

I have tried lots of different cleansers and I have never been fully satisfied with any of them. Some made my face feel tight, some made it feel dry, some didn't remove all of my makeup, and some irritated my skin.

I read some reviews on Purity Made Simple and lots of people seemed to love it. I put off trying it for a long time though because $20 for face wash just seems like a lot to me.

Well when the Sephora opened up in my city, I saw this small 3oz size for $10. I decided to try it out.

The first time I used it I was sold! This is the best cleanser I have ever used thus far. It made my skin feel soft. It didn't irritate my skin and it removed all of my makeup. It made my face feel so clean and fresh.
I used up all of it and went back and bought the larger one. The 3oz did last me over a month. You don't need very much at all to wash your whole face. A little goes a long way, so I think its worth the price.

This is just working out really well for me.

If you have a Sephora or a Philosophy counter near you check it out and get a sample.

Don't forget to comment and follow my blog. :-)

Fresh Firebird and Supernova mascaras

Photobucket

So I picked up this little mascara duo because I had been hearing lots of good things about them. I was excited to try them out. These came together in a set from Sephora for $10.

I was a Little disappointed in these mascaras. I used them together and alone.

When I used them alone they didn't really do much for my lashes. When I used them together they did make my lashes a little fuller/thicker, nothing really amazing though.

I don't have sensitive eyes. I have never really had a problem with mascaras irritating my eyes, but these did. They made my eyes itchy.

I didn't have any problems with flaking, so that was good.

Overall I wouldn't really recommend these, but if you have to try them I suggest picking up the set with the small sizes from Sephora.

Don't forget to Please Subscribe and comment! It would make me SOO Happy! :-)

Sephora Travel Sizes

So a Sephora just opened up a few months ago in the city I live in, which I am so happy about! We didn't have one before. Well now that this one is open I have been able to try out lots of new products.

When you go to check out at my Sephora they have these stands with travel sizes of lots of different prodcuts. I think this is great because if you have been wanting to try something that is a little pricy or your just not sure its going to work for you and you dont want to spend the full amount on it you can try some of these mini versions for a lesser amount. If you like it you can always buy the full size later.

I had been wanting to try these products for awhile. I got Philosophy Purity Made Simple, Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream, and Fresh Firebird and Supernova mascaras.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple ~ $10, 3oz.
Fekkai Glossing Cream ~ $9, 1.6oz.
Fresh Mascara Duo ~ $10, 0.067oz. in each one

Photobucket

They all fit in the palm of my hand. So cute!
Photobucket

I think this is just an excellent way to try new things! Really great for traveling. I'll be taking these to IMATS with me in a couple weeks!
So if your in Sephora check out all the travel sizes, you might find something you've been wanting to try.

Reviews on these will be coming up.

DuWop Lash Venom

Photobucket

I love trying new mascaras. About two months ago Sephora was giving this as a Beauty Insider sample, so I decided to try it out. I used it for about two weeks. It says it's suppose to give volume, add definition, and length. It also has fibers in it.
This mascara didn't really do anything for my lashes. It didn't lengthen, curl, or add definition. All it really did was add a slight tint to my lashes. I did try using a few different lash primers but it still was not working out for me
If your going for a really really natural look then I guess this might be good for you.
It didn't work for me because I like BIG LONG lashes and this did not give me that.
So I wouldn't recommend this mascara if that is what you like as well.

Mally Beauty Mattewand

I don't usually wear liner in my waterline, but lately I've been wanting to brighten it. So I used a white liner from a drugstore. I wasn't really liking it. It didnt look too natural. I wanted something more of a cream color than white. I was looking through all my makeup and found this. I forgot I even had it. So now I've been using it the past few days and I really love it. The packaging is really nice. It looks really natural. It goes on nice and smoothe. I also like that it's double ended. You can use the powder side in your inner corners of your eyes or even on your browbone to highlight. Its nice and handy and you can just toss it in your makeup bag. I have the Mattewand but I know they also make one with shimmer called the Lightwand.

It's $25 and you can find it on beauty.com

More photos and swatches to come...
Here they are
