Some Tips for IMATS L.A. 2011

I posted some tips last year for IMATS, so I just thought I would do an updated post on this topic.

Photo from
First off who is going to IMATS L.A. in June??

I am! I will be nearly 5 months pregnant, but I'm sure I'll be ok as long as I take needed breaks when necessary. :)

This will be my third year going, and maybe my last for a year or two since I'll I have a new baby by this time next year!

Here are some tips if this is your first year going.

* Wear comfortable shoes. You might be doing some standing if you go in a class that's full or your in line at the MAC or Make Up For Ever booth, they always have HUGE lines every year!

* Bring makeup wipes in your purse, since you'll probably be doing lots of swatching!

* Buy your tickets ahead of time online!

* Book your hotel ahead of time!

* Bring a camera, you'll want to take pictures of all the models in body art and prosthetics.

* Most of the booths take cards, but having some cash on hand would be good.

* Your given a large bag to hold all your purchases, so a large bag of your own is not really necessary, which I learned the hard way, it just adds weight to what your carrying with you.

* If your a blogger, take business cards with you to hand out.

* Don't be afraid to mingle with the reps from all the brands there, this is a great way to network and get yourself/ blog/ name, out there. Everyone is always very nice.

* When you purchase something make sure you get all of what your buying, it can be hectic when your checking out, and maybe they forgot to put something in your bag so just double check you have everything you paid for. This happened to me but I didn't realize till I was already home, too late to do anything about it. Lesson learned. :)

* Make a list of things you want or things you want to check out while your there so you don't forget anything. I forgot to buy brush cleaner last year, I have a list this year! :)

That's all I can think of at this time. If I think of anything else I will update this post.

If you have any tips to share leave them in the comments.

If your going let me know! :)

Essie Rock Solid Review

Awhile back I was really unhappy with my nails. I was getting a lot of breakage and tears in my nails. I would then be left with uneven finger nails and that's not pretty.

I went to the drugstore to find something to help make my nails stronger and picked up Rock Solid from Essie.

I have been using this for a month, maybe a little longer and I am really impressed.

Rock Solid claims to give you 30% stronger nails in 5 days and I have to say I did see results in about that length of time.

Since I have been using this I have had no breakage or tears in my nails at all. I can even feel them stronger. Before this my nails felt very thin and brittle, but this is working wonders!

The formula itself isn't one of those thick base coats, it is a thin clear base coat. You use it as you would any other base coat and apply it before your nail polish.

It is also DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde free.

You can find this online for $8 on various websites from to

Overall I highly recommend it if you are looking for a nail strengthener.

Have any of you used Essie Rock Solid? What did you think of it?

Nail Of The Day ~ OPI A Grape Fit

I feel like I haven't posted a nail of the day in a long time, so here is one for ya. :)

Natural light

I'm wearing two coats of OPI A Grape Fit. I have had this color for quite some time and have only worn it once. I forgot how pretty this color is!

I have had this on for 4 days already and I don't have one chip! I love OPI!

I'm definitely going to try and wear this more often.

What do you think of A Grape Fit? What are some of your favorite OPI colors?

Sigma Beauty Dry'N Shape

Sigma Beauty launched their new brush drying system, the Dry'N Shape today.

I like the idea of it reshaping my brushes and keeping them in brand new form, but I'm a little skeptical about the drying aspect of it. They say your brushes will be dry in 4 to 6 hours.

I was skeptical about Sigma brushes a long time ago, but they proved me wrong and are fabulous, so I will have to get the Dry'N Shape and try it for myself.

I hate washing my brushes because I have so many and it's so time consuming, but now I can't wait to get my Dry'N Shape so I can wash my brushes and try it out!

The price for the Dry'N Shape is good too, only $29!

You can get yours here .

What do you think of the Dry'N Shape, from Sigma Beauty? Will you be ordering one and trying it out?
