Pop Rox Cosmetics Lip Paints Review and Swatches

Well more lip products! Are you surprised by that?! Lol!

Left is the bright lip paint set and on the right is the primary set.

Here is another line I learned of through instagram. Again the product images with the vibrant colors is what made me purchase. Also you all know I love my lip tars! I think they're the best lip product ever invented lol so I hoped to love these lip paints just as much, seeing as you could mix them to create new colors like you can with lip tars.

Sadly these just don't come close to the quality of liptars.

While the colors are vibrant and opaque, the formula is extremely drying! There is also a very heavy chemical scent. I just can't get passed the strong smell. On top of it all, they feel so drying on the lips you can almost feel it crack and settle into your lip lines. It seems as if I applied real paint to my lips lol.

Shipping was very long. I ordered these on two separate occasions. I ordered the bright set and the primary set a week later. After not getting any info or tracking on my first ordered I had to contact their customer service and they were like oh ok we'll ship them together, as if they forgot about my order. They were nice though and I did get my order shortly after.

I tried working with these by mixing in some lip balm to try to tone down the scent and make them feel less drying but they're still just ok.

I really want to love these because the colors are so gorgeous, but I just don't. :(

I love this violet/lavender I was able to achieve but it was so uncomfortable to wear! :(

These are just some of the many colors I mixed using the two lip paint sets. The colors you can achieve are endless, so that part is fun. I just wish the formula was better.

Have any of you tried Pop Rox cosmetics? Did you have better experience with the lip paints?

Revlon Lacquer Balm and Matte Balm Review and Swatches

When I first got word of the new Revlon Colorburst Lacquer and Matte balms I was super excited. I loved the kissable balm stains so I was eager to find these.

I originally picked up one matte balm in Shameless because I didn't have any coupons and they weren't on sale. I was waiting for a good sale to come out to get more, so when Walgreens had Revlon 40% off I took advantage of that and used all my coupons to get an even better deal.

I ended up with four lacquer balms and three more matte balms.

L to R
Whimsical, Vivacious, Provocateur, Enticing, Unapologetic, Audacious, and Showy.

Here is the matte balm in Shameless. When I picked this up I also bought a Maybeline Elixir lipgloss in Vision In Violet to pair with it with it. The first swatch is the matte balm in Shameless, then VIV, and the last swatch is VIV over Shameless.

The Lacquer and Matte balms have the same minty scent/taste that the kissable balm stains have. I know some people don't like it, but I really like the mintyness in them.

Obviously the lacquer balms are more hydrating and leave a shiny finish on the lips. Despite having more of a lustre finish they are very pigmented. You can apply them sheerer with one coat or build up the color easily with two coats. They will transfer and wear off quicker than the matte balms. I got about three hours of wear before having to touch up.

The matte balms apply opaque right off the bat. They are not overly drying. These transfer as well but are much longer lasting than the lacquer balms. I got about five/six hours of wear with the matte balms.

I am really happy with these and plan on getting a couple more shades.

I definitely recommend you check these out at your nearest drugstore and don't forget to check your newspapers because they usually have Revlon coupons inside! :)

Have you tried any of the Lacquer or Matte Balms?

Pretty Zombie Cosmetics Liquid Lipsticks Review and Swatches

As I've mentioned before on my blog in recent months I have become very active on instagram, it's really my guilty pleasure/sick addiction lol, but I've learned of many new indie makeup lines out there because of it.

This brings me to Pretty Zombie Cosmetics, I had never heard of them before instagram but the swatch photos is what really made me purchase. I also love long wearing lip colors.

purchased the full set of five which includes Zombettie, Purple Poison, Pink Potion, Spellbook, and Black Cat.

Natural light
L to R ~ Black Cat, Zombettie, Pink Potion, Purple Poison, and Spellbook.

Here are some lip swatches in the same order as above.

So first thing I should mention is that these are vegan and 100% cruelty free! Who doesn't love that!

I have other liquid lipsticks from Stila, Kat Von D, and Lime Crime to name a few of the more popular ones but while the name liquid is in there names, they are really more of a cream that dries to a matte finish. Pretty Zombie Cosmetics liquid lipsticks actually feel like a liquid, like you're applying water to your lips.

They apply with full opacity and dry down after about a minute to a matte finish. They can feel a bit drying over time, but that's usually expected from a long wearing lipstick. They aren't uncomfortable to wear though. You can always apply a little lip balm to make your lips feel more hydrated.

Now because of the matte formula, they are very long lasting. You can eat and drink and these are going to last all day.

I love the current range of colors. They are all bright and bold. Black Cat is amazing and a definite fashion statement lip. I wore this on Halloween and got a lot of compliments on it. I've never had a black lip product this opaque.

Zombettie is a classic red. It looks great with full winged liner and big lashes!

Pink Potion is an amazing bright pink! It's easily one of my favorite pink lip colors I own!

Purple Poison is a beautiful bright purple! I love this one because it's not dark. I really love purple lips but most are always so dark. This one works well for me.

Spellbook is a warmer pink compared to Pink Potion. It's probably the most wearable of the bunch.

The only negative thing I can say is because these are very liquidy they can leak and run from the tube, so make sure you close the lid tightly and wipe off any product that might be around the tube because they will smear everywhere! I know! Lol

Also after they have sat for awhile without use they will separate, but a quick shake and it's good.

Overall I am in love with these. I love the colors. I like how long lasting they are. I hope they come out with more colors in the future.

You can find these on for $11 each or $49.99 for the full set.

Marc Jacobs Style Eye-Con Eyeshadow palette in The Starlet ~ Review andSwatches

Omg it's been awhile since I've posted! I figured I'd post a review on something that I've been loving for quite awhile!

When Marc Jacobs released his cosmetic line for Sephora I had to try it out! I wanted to see everything in person, so I stopped in my sephora and was in love with everything!  The packaging is sleek and stunning, everything I'd expect from Marc Jacobs. Everything felt very luxe. I decided on only a couple items to begin with to have some self control and also because these are pricier.

One of the items I decided on was a palette but I was torn between two, so I let my hubby choose for me and he picked out the Starlet palette. I have to say I am glad he went with this one because I have gotten so much use out of it!

The eyeshadows are velvety smooth. They are all highly pigmented and blend easily. All of the shadows in this palette are very shimmery, so if that's not your cup of tea then pass on this one. I love a little shimmer! ;) Although when I use this, I always have to use other shadows or palettes in order to achieve a wearable look. In my opinion it would be difficult to do a complete eye look with this as there is no matte highlight or matte crease color. I have no problem pulling out a few other shadows to use in conjunction with these, but it might not be practical for some.

I have heard mixed reviews on the Marc Jacobs line, so maybe it's hit and miss but I'm happy with my purchases.

This would make a great Christmas gift under the tree for a beauty junkie, girl friend, or any woman in your life who loves makeup.

You can find this at your nearest Sephora or for $59.

Have you tried anything from the Marc Jacobs Beauty line? What are your thoughts?

Senna Cosmetics Midnight Wine Fall 2013 Collection Review and Swatches

I can't believe I haven't posted this collection! I could have swore I did but I guess it's because I have instagrammed it several times! Btw if you are not following me on IG do it now! My IG name is of course LipGlossGossip. :) I have been wearing/using this collection for about a month and it's beautiful!

I received three lip lacquers, two lipsticks, two eyeshadows, and one blush that are all from the Midnight Wine Fall 2013 collection.

Natural light
The lip lacquers are Leather, Blush Wine, and Mulberry. Leather is a deep plum/brown. Blush Wine is a light shimmery copper pink. My favorite of the bunch is Mulberry a gorgeous plum! These are lacquers so they are a bit sticky but not annoying, this also makes them longer lasting though! I got about 5 hours of color wear with these, but the tackiness and shine faded sooner but I was still left with color on my lips.

Natural light
I got two lipstick in Beautiful Bronze and Ruby. Beautiful Bronze is is a metallic shimmery bronze/copper pink. Ruby is a gorgeous creamy berry plum. Ruby is a great Fall lip color! It's not too dark and makes a beautiful bold lip! Beautiful Bronze is a great shade to apply in the center of the lips to give a little bit of dimension. Apply it over Ruby or any shade you have to make your lips really pop and look full and pouty!

I found both of these to be fairly long wearing. They will transfer with eating or drinking but don't completely fade away. I got about five hours of wear before minimal fading.

I got two eyeshadows in Cordovan and Coppertina. Cordovan is a shimmery chocolate brown. Coppertina is a shimmery copper with a bit more sparkly to it. I love these!! You know I love me some neutrals! These are neutral shadows that can be worn daily, to the office, or whatever it may be but they are not boring! They give your eyes a gorgeous glow. They blend easily. They look great worn together or on it's own as a wash on your lid or even better paired with other Senna eyeshadows. If you are a MUA these are great for bridal work as well! I love these colors and can't get enough of them!

How beautiful is this blush in Moonberry!! When I first saw this I was like there's no way I can wear this because of my lighter complexion and redness in my cheeks, but it's so pretty! It's a satin/matte finish. It's highly pigmented and looks gorgeous on darker complexions, but fairer skin tones can wear this as well! Use a large fluffy brush to deposit a shearer color. Apply a little at a time as to not overdue it but this does blend out easily. This is a great color to get that cold winter flushed cheeks look as well! I love it!

Now on to the swatches!
Natural light
Indoor artificial light
L to R
Leather, Blush Wine, Mullberry, Beautiful Bronze, and Ruby. These are $20 each.

Natural light
L to R
Cordovan, Coppertina, and Moonberry. The eyeshadows are $18 each and blush is $18.50.

Overall this is a great Fall collection. Senna always puts out fabulous collections. The quality is always fantastic. I've been using this line far before I was blogging and it continues to be one of my favorite lines out there.

I highly recommend you check out the Midnight Wine collection!

Melt Cosmetics lipsticks review and swatches!

As someone who is on instagram a lot, I can easily say it may at times enable some of my purchases. It's just so quick and easy to see hauls, swatches, and mini reviews! Lol

Currently all the buzz was about Melt Cosmetics. I had never heard of this line before instagram, but checking out their page and website I was easily interested with their bright bold lipstick photos!

They were hyping up the release of new colors and their original colors coming back in stock with a specific release date and time. I am not one who usually jumps at the hype, but these colors looked so gorgeous, I had to try them being a bright lipstick lover!

decided on three shades; By Starlight, Stupid Love, and DGAF.

By Starlight is a matte deep purple.

Stupid Love is a super bright neon like matte pink.

Lastly I picked DGAF because I don't have a blue lipstick quite like this color. DGAF is nice creamy dark blue.

Here are some lip swatches I posted on instagram.

As you can see Stupid Love is just as bright on the lips as it is in the tube. Now the formula on this is super dry! This does not glide on the lips. You must prep with lip balm beforehand. I would also suggest exfoliating because if your lips have any dry patches this is going to grab on to those areas and accentuate them and that's not cute!

You can see how that happened on my lips with By Starlight. This color was kinda disappointing to me. The photos on Melt Cosmetics portrayed this as a true purple, but on my lips I feel as if it comes off as a berry/plum purple. It swatches prettier on my hand than my lips. I'm going to play with this one some more and completely white out my lips to see if I can get the color to look as I want it to. This shade is also extremely drying.

DGAF is the most creamy of the bunch. It's actually not really matte. It stays creamy through out wearing it. It's the most comfortable to wear but oddly enough I wish this one was matte because it does transfer much much easier than the others. For such a deep bold color I wish it stayed put more lol.

All three of these have a cheap lipstick smell. They are $19 each so I expected a much nicer scent for $19! I mean Lime Crime lipsticks aren't even this pricey.

So with all that being said, I don't think these lipsticks are all that great. I don't love them, but I don't hate them either. The colors are gorgeous and I can work with them to make them feel nicer on the lips, but I feel I shouldn't have to. There are much nicer lipsticks out there. I don't think I'd purchase these again unless they come out with a nicer and better scented formula.

Here are some swatch comparisons.
L to R
Wet N Wild don't blink pink, Nars schiap, Melt Stupid Love, MAC Candy Yum Yum, and Maybelline vivids in fuchsia flash.

Did you purchase any Melt Cosmetics lipsticks? What was your experience?

Influenster Paradise Voxbox Review

I was lucky enough to qualify for the recent Paradise Voxbox from influenster!

It came with a great assortment of things to try.

Dr Scholls for her High Heel inserts
I have never used dr schools inserts before so I was excited to try these.

The inserts provide the most cushion in the arch of the foot with added gel in that area. I have a pair of wedges that are soooo uncomfortable so I tried these with them. In my wedges they are the most uncomfortable in the toe area so I didn't know if these would help. After placing these in my shoes and using them I still get discomfort wearing my shoes but I am able to wear them for a longer period of time before they become unbearable lol. So I would say it's a definite improvement! I recommend giving these a try for your uncomfortable heels! :)

Goody Tangle Fix
So this product is a hair brush that claims to be more gentle on detangling your hair. I have very long thick, course wavy/curly hair. I honestly never use a hair brush which probably sounds bad lol but my hair never looks bad, I just always use wide tooth combs on my hair. It says to use this on dry or wet hair, so I used it right after my shower on wet hair. I felt like the width of the brush bristles were too short to fully reach through my thick hair to detangle it, if that makes sense. I feel like it took me much longer to comb through my hair with this than my wide tooth comb. It's nice for just smoothing out the top of my hair  but that's about it. My 22 month old son on the other hand loves it! I use this on his hair all the time so it's come in handy! This wound be great for little girls  hair! :)

Olay Fresh Effects Shine Shine Go Away Cleanser
This is a shine minimizing cleanser. It's suppose to minimize shine throughout the day. Now how can you truly know if a face wash prevents shine! I have no idea! BUT I feel like it works! Of course I wear makeup, and shine minimizing face primers and potions so who's to say this cleanser is doing the job and not those! Well I can say I have seen less shine throughout the day since using this, but maybe it's the fact that it's finally cooling off here in California lol, but I think it's working so that's what counts! Cleansing wise it does a great job at removing my makeup and keeping my face clean. It doesn't irritate my skin. It smells great! It's a win for me! :)

Suave Moroccon Argan Styling Oil
This couldn't have come at a better time! Prior to coloring my hair I had super healthy shiny hair. Since coloring, my hair is still soft and manageable but I find it's not as shiny as I'd like so I've been on this hair product kick, buying all sorts of hair serums and balms to try. I was really excited to try a new one! I apply this to wet hair and then style as usual. I definitely see a difference when using this. I get very soft hair and lots of shine! Just what I wanted! The smell is ok. I don't hate it, but it's not my favorite scent. It does exactly what it says though so I like it. Although don't use too much because I can totally see it making your hair look greasy if you apply too much. Check this out if you need a new hair serum!

Last but not least is the NYC Sparkle Eye Dust
I love this! I had never used these before but it's so pretty! The color I got is #882 Smokey Topaz. It's a gorgeous shimmery taupe/brown shade. It's really gorgeous all over the lid or towards the inner corners. I used UDPP with it and it lasted all day! It is a loose shadow, but the applicator makes it easy to apply. After I apply it, I use a blending brush to blend out any harsh edges. I'm going to pick up a few more colors!! Check these out at your local drugstore for $2.99!

Overall I'm so happy with all these great products I got to try! It's always fun to try a variety of new products whether it be makeup, skincare, or haircare. I definitely recommend you try these out. You can find all of these at your local drugstore.

Thanks to Influenster for giving me the opportunity and choosing me for the Paradise VoxBox!

Kat Von D Spellbinding Lipstick Set Review and Swatches!

The time is among us where all beauty companies will start bringing out their holiday sets!! I am such a sucker for kits and sets! While browsing Sephora recently I came across the new Kat Von D Spellbinding lipstick set so I ordered it instantly!
This is a set of 10 mini lipsticks that range from neutrals, to classic reds, and fun brights!
I love the black packaging with floral detail.
Here they are next to full size lipsticks from Senna Cosmetics and MAC. The Kat Von D mini lipsticks have .042 oz of product and a full size KVD lipstick has .11oz.

L to R
Vampire, l.u.v., bachelorette, mau 5, a go go, ritual, underage red, lovecraft, thin lizzy, and backstage bambi

L to R
Vampire, l.u.v., bachelorette, mau 5, a go go, ritual, underage red, lovecraft, thin lizzy, and backstage bambi

I love this set of little lipsticks! Most of the shades are all a cream or matte formula with the exception of Thin Lizzy which is more of a frosty metallic shade.

These are very long wearing. I wore these through eating and drinking and had no fading. Also when I swatched these and washed them off they stained my hand. I scrubbed and scrubbed but you could still see the stain!

All of them applied smoothly and evenly. Since these are more of a matte formula they can feel a bit drying on the lips. I recommend starting with smooth exfoliated lips, apply a thin coat of your fav lip balm as a primer, and then your lipstick.

I obviously love all of the bright colors. My favorites are Luv, Mau5, and A GoGo. Vampire is a really great color for Fall. Underage Red is a gorgeous classic red that I love! If you happen to pick this up, try Underage Red with Thin Lizzy on the center of your lips! It's a gorgeous look and will be great for the Holidays!

This would be such a great gift to give someone or a great stocking stuffer. Another cute thing you could do is split the colors up and give a couple to all your girl friends or tie them to gifts as an added little gift/decoration.

You can get this set at Sephora or for $39.

I definitely recommend you check it out! :D
