James Vincent Spring Trends and The Makeup Show San Francisco

Happy Spring!!

Spring is my second favorite season behind Fall of course. Something about coming out of a cold winter and moving into beautiful weather, more sunshine in the day, and just feeling fresh and renewed with my makeup makes me happy!

I’ll be sharing a few hot new trends for Spring from celebrity makeup artist James Vincent along with my thoughts as well.

TREND #1: PRETTY IN PASTEL  It's no surprise when pale pastels make their way on the runway for Spring. This season they are  back  as  expected  but  with  softer,  sexier,  seventies  vibes.  Sweep  shadows  across  the  entire  lid  from  lash  to  brow  for  a  beautiful,  modern  look  or  add  in  a  pastel  liner  for  an  even  easier  step  into spring. Try MAKE UP FOR EVER XL Pencils in a wide array of pretty pastels or cream shadows  from Kryolan or Mehron for long wear and easy to apply options.

My thoughts - I’m always a fan of playing with a little pastels in the spring. I feel like I can get away with a soft pink during Springtime. I haven’t experimented  with pastel liner though so I’ll definitely be trying this out on myself! Maybe a pastel smudged on the lower lash line!

TREND #2: DISCO DOLLY
Glitter  is  taking  over.  Glitter  hit  the  runway  once  again,  but  for  spring  2018  it  has  a  gorgeous  grunge  aesthetic.  Pair  it  with  a  smokey,  smudge  pencil  line  for  a  look  that  feels  more  adult.  Try  Lemonhead  Space  Jams  for  glitters  in  every  shade  that  stay  put  and  be  sure  to  check  out  their  collaboration  with  Alcone,  cleverly  called  Alconeholic;  it  is  a  seasonal  must  have.  For  more  loose  glitters in all colors, try Graftobian, Kryolan, Eye Kandy or Still at Frends.

My thoughts - I’m all about glitter! All day everyday lol! Glitters used to be very chunky and harder to wear but there are so many glitter shadows out there today that are much finer therefor making them easier to work with and wear.

TREND #3: SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND
Inspired  by  the  makeup  of  Japan  and  Korea,  glazed  skin  has  an  almost  glasslike  effect.  Primers  like  Limelight  by  Alcone  are  a  perfect  addition  below  any  foundation.  Melanie  Mills  Hollywood's  Gleam  Collection  is  perfection  for  every  skin  tone.  Try  her  Disco  Smoke  or  Rose  Gold  under  and  over any foundation for an unforgettable look.

My thoughts - I have oily skin and have always used matte face products but lately I’ve been so inspired by this dewy glowing skin look that I’ve seen MUA katiejanehughes wear. She has the most beautiful dewy skin!! Look her up on IG! She’s amazing! I’m definitely going to pick up some of these products to try this look on myself.

TREND #4:  SEEING RED
The  red  lip  is  back  once  more  but  with  a  much  softer  edge.  Look  to  classic  lipsticks  to  offer  a  polished look without hard lines. Pair your perfect red with a nude pencil like the beautiful colors  available from Gerard Cosmetics and get a red that is timely and timeless!

My thoughts - If you’ve been a longtime reader here then you know I’m a fan of a bold lip. Wearing a statement lip is just my thing. I almost feel naked if I’m not wearing something so bold but I think I will try a softer red, maybe a soft red just eaten a popcicle kind of stain.

Makeup is all about fun and wearing what makes you feel good and confident. Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new things though.

If you’re in the Northern California area and aren’t doing anything this weekend I highly suggest grabbing some tickets to The Makeup Show this weekend in San Francisco.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again TMS is my favorite. Everyone is so friendly and open with sharing information to help you grow and learn as an artist. Each time I’ve been to TMS I walk away feeling so inspired and empowered.

If you are just getting started in your makeup career or are a pro this is the place to be this weekend!!

You can find all the info here

It is actually my birthday weekend but you know where you’ll find me this weekend! :)
