英語中有一些詞語是用‘and’把兩個單詞連接起來，表達一個完整的意思，這種詞語被稱為‘‘成對詞’’。這種詞語可不能望文生義哦，一起來學習幾個實用又有趣的成對詞吧。

　　首先要注意的是， 成對詞中前后的兩個單詞不能調換順序，比如 'bride and groom'，新娘新郎。英文中不會換個順序說 ‘'groom and bride'’。

　　1)life and death 解釋某件事并沒有那么重要和嚴重，其結果并不會影響你的生死：

　　“I understand that you are worried about not handing in your assignment on time, but please don't worry too much, it's not a matter of life and death.”

　　我明白你因未能準時交作業而擔心，但別太惴惴不安了，這并不是什么關乎生死的大事。

　　2)Trial and error 用不同方法不斷試驗直到找到最成功的方法：

　　“Because he was new to the city, finding the shortest route to work was a matter of trial and error.”

　　因為剛到這座城市，所以他不斷嘗試找到最短的上班路線。

　　3)Lock and key 妥善保管：

　　“I love my new smartphone so much, I keep it under lock and key when I am asleep."

　　我很愛我的新智能手機，睡覺時將它保管得妥妥的。

　　4)heart and soul 全心全意

　　We should serve the people heart and soul.

　　我們應該全心全意地為人民服務。

　　5)safe and sound 安然無恙

　　The missing child came back safe and sound.

　　那個失蹤地孩子安然無恙地回來了。

　　6)bag and baggage 連同行李的

　　They quarreled last night and this morning she left, bag and baggage.

　　昨夜他們吵架了，今天早晨她收拾起自己的東西就走了。

　　7)black and blue 遍體鱗傷，青一塊紫一塊

　　After the fight, he was black and blue all over.

　　搏斗結束后，他遍體鱗傷。

　　1. 頭韻：押頭的成對詞不僅起到加強形容的作用，而且讀起來丁當悅耳，富有詩意。
